Topshop’s given us some pretty showstopping designer collaborations over the years, from Kate Moss to Christopher Kane, Marques Almeida and Ashish. This week the high street chain announced its latest collaborator: Halpern. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Michael [Halpern] – especially at such an exciting time in his career,” said Anthony Cuthbertson, global design director at Topshop and Topman. “Our capsule embodies the disco spirit and signature feminine silhouettes he is renowned for – we can’t wait to bring the world of Halpern to Topshop with styles that will no doubt kickstart the partywear season.” For those who aren’t familiar with the brand, Halpern is one of London’s most exciting and promising new designers, known for its modern take on high-octane glamour, disco-ready sequins, loud prints and lashings of glitter. Founder Michael Halpern graduated from Central St Martins in 2016 and in February last year debuted his collection at London Fashion Week to much praise. In December he won British emerging talent, womenswear, at the Fashion Awards.

Supermodel Adwoa Aboah, who won model of the year, wore a sequin-smothered Halpern minidress in aqua blue and baby pink, with a matching metallic turban made by Stephen Jones. A look that, unsurprisingly, ignited A-listers’ love affair with the designer’s glittering dreamland. Since then, Halpern’s disco-ready partywear has been worn by the likes of Amal Clooney, Lupita Nyong’o, Diane Kruger, Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert and Marion Cotillard.

Of course, this kind of garb tends to be out of most of our price leagues but that’s where the Topshop collab comes in. Translating Halpern’s glamorous aesthetic for the more attainable world of high street fashion, the 28-piece collection, which drops in November, will include everything from neon velvet separates, to sequin-adorned two pieces, jumpsuits and disco-ready partywear, all starting from just £35. “I think it’s fabulous that as a younger brand we’re able to work with Topshop, making the type of clothing we do for the main Halpern collection in an accessible way, so more people can really feel the glamour,” says creative director Michael Halpern. “I want the whole world to feel as glam as possible, and this type of collaboration is a fantastic way to accomplish that.” The collaboration will be available in selected Topshop stores around the world and at topshop.com from early November.     Source: Independent
